ABOUT COURSE

THE PROGRAM Overview and who this is designed for.

The Summer Portfolio Intensive is a focused, one-week program designed for serious art and design students preparing for competitive applications.

The course combines structured lectures, guided studio work, and daily critiques to accelerate portfolio development. Rather than adding random projects, students refine their direction and strengthen conceptual depth.

The goal is to build cohesive, intentional work that reflects both technical skill and personal voice. By the end of the week, each participant leaves with measurable progress and a clear strategy moving forward.

This program is designed for students in grades 10–12 (as well as gap-year students) who are planning to apply to top creative universities and colleges.

OUTCOMES AND GOALS By the end of the intensive, every student will:
  • Complete 3+ portfolio type pieces from start to finish

  • Develop one major project that can be continued after the program, suitable for top school portfolio requirements

  • Learn process documentation, research methods, and how to present ideas visually for applications

  • Learn how to work with SlideRoom through guidance

  • Receive individualized portfolio strategy for their school list

I was struggling to make a portfolio for UAL to the point where I didn’t even know where to start, luckily I got introduced to Abby and her help and guidance were amazing. She is so fun and so encouraging so my doubts about getting into my university and my portfolio lowered a lot! The final body of work that I built was great. I fortunately got into UAL and a big part of that happening is because of abby. I recommend her and her program heavily because she makes the process so fun and exciting!
